Synesthetic Explorations: An Autoethnographic Study on Music, Color, and Creativity,

I’m thrilled to share the launch of my latest research project on Wikiversity, a platform dedicated to free and open learning resources. This study, titled “Synesthetic Explorations: An Autoethnographic Study on Music, Color, and Creativity,” delves deep into the complex and fascinating world of synesthesia, where the boundaries between sensory experiences blur, leading to unique artistic expressions.

Why This Study?

For as long as I can remember, synesthesia has been a haunting presence in my life, coloring my perception of the world in ways that are as perplexing as they are inspiring. Despite living with this condition for years, it wasn’t until recently that I decided to explore it more formally. My journey into synesthesia has not only influenced my artistic practice but also pushed me towards a deeper understanding of how our senses interact.

What You Can Expect

In this study, I combine my background in music and visual arts to explore how synesthesia manifests in my work. From mapping musical notes to specific colors to analyzing the impact of my color blindness on these experiences, the study provides a comprehensive look at how my synesthetic perceptions shape my creative output. The research also includes a thorough examination of various theoretical frameworks and empirical tests, offering new insights into the connection between sound and color.

The Artistic Journey

As I delved into this research, what began as a personal exploration quickly evolved into something much more significant. The insights gained from my synesthetic experiences led me to expand my artistic repertoire, moving from painting to sculpture, and eventually embracing digital arts. This evolution has now become a central theme in my work, influencing not only the art I create but also the way I approach my practice as a whole.
