Description

“Monadology – Research on Tensions / Sound Sculpture” is a digital sound sculpture that blends art, philosophy, and technology, inspired by Leibniz’s concept of monads. Through a marble ball simulation, the piece explores the dynamic and immaterial nature of monads, reflecting their interconnected yet independent existence in the universal order. This work artistically represents the synthesis of old and new ideas, aligning with Leibniz’s 1714 text Monadologia.

Technical Details:

• Modeled and simulated in Blender v2.9, with precise physics for 50 marble balls.

• The simulation integrates musical and mechanical elements, such as piano hammers and percussion.

• Sounds were extracted and tracked into Cubase, utilizing EW Hollywood sound libraries for the soundtrack.

Created by Arnaud Quercy in 2021, this digital sculpture presents a unique intersection of sound, movement, and philosophical thought.
