What colors arise from the quiet intensity of Miles Davis’s Solar? In this work, I translate the jazz classic’s introspective tones into a harmony of deep red (C), blue-violet (Eb), and red-orange (G). Solar, known for its subtle sophistication and fluid improvisation, provides a haunting exploration of space and mood within a simple structure. Here, each color and shape evokes Davis’s approach: bold yet restrained, complex yet spacious. The layered geometry brings forward C minor’s contemplative qualities, hinting at the transient nature of each note in Solar, where resonance lingers in quiet spaces. In this piece, color and form merge to mirror jazz’s balance between structure and freedom, capturing an enduring mood that invites reflection.
